President Trump Goes Forward With Wall on U.S.-Mexican Border

President Trump is following through on his campaign promise to build a wall along the U.S-Mexican border. The new project aims to keep immigrants out of the country and improve national security. However, before his dreams become a reality, Congress needs to approve of the funding for the project. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell predicts the wall would cost between $12 and $15 billion. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said his country would not pay for the wall, and he later cancelled his meeting with Trump, which was scheduled for Tuesday morning.

Usain Bolt Returns Olympic Medal After Teammate Caught Doping

Jamaican track superstar Usain Bolt has to give back one of his Olympic medals from the Beijing Games after a member of his 4×100 meter relay was found guilty of doping. According to CNN, test results from teammate Nesta Carter were re-analyzed, and Carter was reported with having methylhexaneamine in his system during the race in 2008. Bolt will now only have eight gold medals from the Olympic Games.

Vice President Pence Speaks at Annual March For Life Event

The March for Life was held in D.C. on Friday, drawing massive crowds to the area. The anti-abortion march has been an annual event in the nation’s capital, stemming from the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision in 1943 that legalized abortion. The march began at the Washington Monument, and concluded outside of the U.S. Supreme Court. Vice President Mike Pence spoke at the event. According to The Washington Times, Pence was the first Vice President to speak at the march in person.

Greenpeace USA Members Scale Crane in Protest

In an attempt to protest the Trump administration, members of Greenpeace USA scaled a construction crane early Wednesday morning to hang a 70-by-35-foot banner. The symbol of protest was decorated with the word “RESIST” in bold letters, surrounded by rays of sunshine. The banner could be seen from the grounds of the White House. Seven members of the organization scaled the crane, and did not come down until around 10 p.m. According to the AP, the members have been charged with misdemeanor offenses, including unlawful entry, destruction of property, and unlawful demonstrating. The protest comes shortly after President Trump supported the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, as well as the potential halting of contracts and grants from the Environmental Protection Agency.
