I do not know what decision the Board of Trustees will make in June.
However, I am certain that if the Trustees cave to the woke mob and remove the name Lee … that same woke mob will immediately call for the removal of the name Washington.
And, to what end?
Let’s not forget that all of the students and professors, and sadly a few alums, who comprise the woke mob willingly chose to attend or work for Washington and Lee University! Had they not read American history before attending? Am I to believe they showed up in Lexington and found out that the school was named for a confederate general?
Again, I ask, to what end?

I am perplexed…..If you all are so bent on removing Lee’s name and association with Washington and Lee, where is your protest on considering removing Washington’s name since after all, he was ALSO a known brutal slave owner or did you miss that history class presentation? Moreover, removing the Lee name from Washington and Lee University incurs a disservice to his son, George Washington Custis Lee, who served as a distinguished president of the institution following his father’s death.

Wow. I am amazed at the scope of this and the seriousness the students displayed. Makes this alumnus hopeful for the future of the University.

I am super proud of all of you. A lot of the alumni are behind this, and behind you.
