Mock Convention has announced headlining speakers for Convention Weekend, which will start Feb. 8. NBC News first reported some of the speakers earlier today. Here are some of the headliners:
- Donald Trump Jr., son of former President Donald Trump
- Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp
- Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin
- Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
- Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, also a former 2024 presidential candidate
- Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany
- Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk
- Conservative commentator Candace Owens
The Ring-tum Phi will offer gavel-to-gavel coverage of Mock Convention, which will culminate in a prediction of this year’s GOP presidential nominee. Students will try to improve upon the event’s 74% accuracy rate since 1908. That rate is the highest among mock nominating conventions in the nation.
Mock Convention leaders told NBC News that their goal is to bring to campus a variety of perspectives within the Republican Party.
Recent past headliners include comedian Trevor Noah in 2020, and former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich in 2016.
This is a developing story. Check back for further updates.
