Katterhagen, Fugate & Lee lead Gennies at Carnival

LEXINGTON, Va. — Seniors Jillian Katter- hagen (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) and Janey Fugate (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) each won events, and sophomore Dana Lee (Nashville, Tenn./St. Cecilia Academy) broke the school record in the triple jump to lead the Washington and Lee women’s track and field team on day two of theW&L Carnival on Saturday.

Lee registered a mark of 11.14m (36.06.75”) to take second overall, and broke her own school record of 10.98m (36’00.25”) set last season. Lee also finished fifth in the 200m (26.00).

Katterhagen was one of three Generals to place in the Top 5 in the pole vault. She claimed the top spot with a jump of3.46m (11’04.25”). Sophomore Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./ Papillion-LaVista South) finished second at 3.31m (10’10.25”) and junior Kaela Fiutak (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) tied for fourth at 2.86m (9’04.50”).

Fugate took the top spot in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.09. First-year Kaleigh Hinton (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) finished in fourth in the event in 1:08.45.

In the 800m, sophomore Catherine Fonvielle (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes) claimed third with a time of 2:22.40. Senior Jennifer Friberg (Round Hill, Va./Loudoun Valley) finished fourth in the 100m hurdles in 16.13.

The 4x100m relay placed third in 50.47. The quartet consisted of Katterhagen, Friberg, sophomore Kara Farroni (Willoughby, Ohio/Willoughby South) and Lee.

The Generals next compete at the Jopson Invite hosted by Bridgewater on March 27 and 28.
