The Washington and Lee field hockey team scored three second-half goals en route to a 4-0 victory at Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.

The Generals (7-5, 3-0 ODAC) held a 1-0 lead entering intermission, and then first-year midfielder Audrey Brady (Far Hills, N.J./Brooks School) stuffed in a rebound to push the lead to 2-0 with 29:24 left in the game. It marked Brady’s second tally of the season.

First-year forward Haley Tucker (Manakin-Sabot, Va./St. Catherine’s School) stretched the lead to 3-0 at the 56:01 mark, playing the ball through traffic into the back of the cage for her fourth goal of the year.

Junior forward Maggie Waxter (Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country School) notched the Blue and White’s final goal with 3:51 remaining on the clock. It was her second score of the game, as she recorded the team’s lone goal in the opening half. Waxter has eight tallies this year, and 23 in her career. She is now tied with Candice Stefanic ‘14 for fifth on the W&L all-time goals list.

First-year goalkeeper Ariyel Yavalar (Baltimore, Md./Garrison Forest School) registered her second straight shutout. She did not face a shot in 70 minutes. First-year Kelsey Troyer played the entire contest in goal for the Royals (2-9, 0-2 ODAC), making 17 saves.

The Generals dominated in shots, 33-1, and took 16 penalty corners compared to just one for EMU.

The win marked the fourth straight for the Generals. The team next competes on Friday at Shenandoah at 5:00 p.m.
