Ginger and Garlic garners student approval for Foodside’s first menu with Asian cuisine

The menu includes the standard bowl and salad options, with new additions like orange-sesame chicken and Korean barbecue pork.

General of the Week: Dylan Ritch, ’19

Dylan Ritch, ‘19, was selected as the ODAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week after scoring one goal and logging one assist in the 3 to 0 victory over Eastern Mennonite University, and helping the team to their unbeaten streak to a program-tying 12th victory during the week ending in October 28. His assist broke the program’s career assist record. Ritch also scored both goals in the 2 to 0 victory over nationally-ranked Virginia Wesleyan University. The Phi sat down with Ritch to talk about his life on and off the field at Washington and Lee.

General of the Week: Ryan Weston, ’17

Ryan Weston, ’17, from Rolling Hills Estates, Ca., has had a very successful season so far as the starting third baseman for the Washington and Lee men’s baseball team. He has hit four home runs during the season. He has a batting average of .340 and an on-base percentage of .407. On April 21, Weston hit a walk off single in the 11th inning of the first game of a double header against Roanoke College to give the Generals the win. In his career, Weston has played in 110 games for the Generals and recorded a career .313 batting average, .366 on-base percentage and 10 home runs. The Phi sat down with Weston to talk about this moment and how the team will prepare for the rest of the season.

General of the Week: Shep Sims, ‘20

Shep Sims, ’20, from Charleston, W.Va., has started off his freshman season with a bang. After setting the record for pole vault at his high school his senior year, Sims has managed to achieve similar success at the collegiate level. At the 2017 Art and Linda Maillet UNC Open last Saturday, Sims took first place in the pole vault with a vault of 14 feet 5 inches. The Phi sat down with Sims to discuss his early success on W&L’s track and field team and what he does when he is not competing.

Emily Rollo, ’17, from Haddonfield, N.J., started the New Year off with a splash. In the first meet of 2017 against Bridgewater, she led her team to a decisive victory. Emily was part of two winning relays, the 200-yard Medley Relay and the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. She also won two individual events: the 100-yard Backstroke and the 200-yard Backstroke. The Phi sat down with the senior captain to discuss this great start to 2017 and life out of the pool.

General of the Week: Dylan Ritch, ’19

As the Washington and Lee soccer team makes its way up the national rankings, being currently ranked 13 by ncaa.com, Dylan Ritch continues to make a name for himself on the pitch. Ritch has scored or has had an assist in all but two games this year and leads the team in both categories. Last week, the North Carolina native found the net on both of his penalty kicks. The Phi sat down with Ritch to talk about his mindset during the game and his life off the field.
