General of the Week: Lizzy Stanton, ’17
As the lone Division III competitor, Lizzy Stanton, ‘17, vaulted 3.63 meters to break the Washington and Lee pole vault record at the Highlander Invitational on April 29. With the new record, Stanton now holds both the school’s indoor and outdoor pole vault record. The Phi sat down with Stanton to talk about her life on and off the track.
General of the Week: Mary-Frances Hall
Just halfway through her college career, Mary-Frances Hall, ‘18, has already earned a spot in the Washington and Lee trophy case. On April 24-26, the reigning ODAC player of the year won the conference tournament by a stroke to help lead the Generals to a second place team finish. Hall sat down with the Phi to talk about her conference title, the future of the golf team and more.
General of the Week: Danny Devereux
In only fifteen appearances, Danny Devereux, ‘19, has already done something that no Washington and Lee pitcher has ever done: record eight saves in a single season. The previous record of six was set in 1996 by Matt Reedy. As a first-year, Devereux is already only two saves shy of the career record. Between breaking various pitching records, Devereux took a minute to sit down with the Phi and talk about his role on the team, his goals for his career and his life off the mound.
Maddy Graves
It did not take long for Maddy Graves, ‘19, to make a name for herself on the Washington and Lee women’s lacrosse team. Through her first ten games as a General, Graves leads the team in goals with 17 (the next highest goal scorer, Olivia Sisson, ‘17, has 12) and has netted exactly half of her shots. She has scored multiple goals in six of the team’s matches this season and is averaging three goals per contest in ODAC play. The Phi sat down with Graves to talk about her success on the field and her life off of it.
General of the Week: Brooke Donnelly
Brooke Donnelly, ‘17, has been on fire to start the tennis team’s spring season. Through her first dozen matches, she has a singles record of 11-1 and a 9-3 doubles record alongside Tessa Hill, ‘19. She was a singles All-American last season and has been named to the All-ODAC team in every season as a General. This week, Donnelly sat down with the Phi to talk about her career as a Gennie, both on and off the court.

General of the Week: Elisabeth Holmes
Elisabeth Holmes, ‘17, was crucial in the swim team’s defeat over rival VMI 148 to 69 on Jan. 30. She set the Cy Twombly Pool record in the 200 frees and was a member of the pool-record setting 200 freestyle relay as well as winning the 100 free. She sat down with the Phi this week to talk about her record- setting meet, her growth since freshman year and her life outside of the pool.
General of the Week: Devin Kearns, ’19
As a freshman, Kearns ranks second on the team in scoring during ODAC play with 15.9 points per contest, third on the team in rebounding, all the while leading the Generals in steals. He has scored in double figures in eight of the team’s last nine games, including a 27-point outburst against Roanoke. The Phi sat down with Kearns to learn more about his first year as a General, both on and off the court.
