General of the Week: Clayton Murtha
Captain Clayton Murtha, ’18, currently leads the Washington and Lee men’s basketball team in points per game, averaging about 18 per contest. The forward from Dallas, Texas, entered the season as 12th in W&L career scoring with 1,340 points, according to W&L Sports Information. Cross country runner Austin Kinne from Bolingbrook, Ill. finished 8th out of 88 runners at the Shenandoah Hornet Harrier at the Kernstown Battlefield. Although he suffered from numerous injuries his freshman year, he is entering his sophomore season with a newfound patience and optimism. General of the Week: Taylor Casey, ‘20
Washington and Lee basketball player Taylor Casey, ’20, scored a career-high of 29 points in the Generals’ contest against Bridgewater College. Not only did she set a career-high, she also downed eight three-pointers, which broke the record held by Allie Long, ’11. She also has 44 three-pointers this season, which ranks eighth on W&L’s single-season list. General of the Week: Emily Hageboeck, ‘20
Emily Hageboeck, ‘20, has had an incredible start to her freshman season. In the Franklin & Marshall Invitational alone, Hageboeck set three records: the 400-yard IM, 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke. To add to this successful weekend, Hageboeck swam on the 400-yard medley relay team that also set a new school record. At the Mary Washington Kickoff Classic, Brooke Donnelly opened up her senior year with an undefeated weekend, capturing two wins in the No. 1 singles flight and going 3-0 in doubles play with her partner Anna Kreynin, ‘20. A two-time ITA All-American, Donnelly also received the Elite 90 award for Division III Women’s Tennis and ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades.
