General of the Week: Dylan Ritch, ’19

Dylan Ritch, ‘19, was selected as the ODAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week after scoring one goal and logging one assist in the 3 to 0 victory over Eastern Mennonite University, and helping the team to their unbeaten streak to a program-tying 12th victory during the week ending in October 28. His assist broke the program’s career assist record. Ritch also scored both goals in the 2 to 0 victory over nationally-ranked Virginia Wesleyan University. The Phi sat down with Ritch to talk about his life on and off the field at Washington and Lee.

General of the Week: Megan Engeland, ‘19

Captain Megan Engeland, ‘19, recorded her second-career hat trick in a 4-2 victory over Shenandoah on Oct. 5. The midfielder is having a strong season as she leads the team in goals scored with eight. The Phi sat down with Engeland to discuss her last ride in the blue and white.

General of the Week: Brooke Donnelly

At the Mary Washington Kickoff Classic, Brooke Donnelly opened up her senior year with an undefeated weekend, capturing two wins in the No. 1 singles flight and going 3-0 in doubles play with her partner Anna Kreynin, ‘20. A two-time ITA All-American, Donnelly also received the Elite 90 award for Division III Women’s Tennis and ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades. General of the Week: Lizzy Stanton, ’17

As the lone Division III competitor, Lizzy Stanton, ‘17, vaulted 3.63 meters to break the Washington and Lee pole vault record at the Highlander Invitational on April 29. With the new record, Stanton now holds both the school’s indoor and outdoor pole vault record. The Phi sat down with Stanton to talk about her life on and off the track.

General of the Week: Mary-Frances Hall

Just halfway through her college career, Mary-Frances Hall, ‘18, has already earned a spot in the Washington and Lee trophy case. On April 24-26, the reigning ODAC player of the year won the conference tournament by a stroke to help lead the Generals to a second place team finish. Hall sat down with the Phi to talk about her conference title, the future of the golf team and more.

General of the Week: Danny Devereux

In only fifteen appearances, Danny Devereux, ‘19, has already done something that no Washington and Lee pitcher has ever done: record eight saves in a single season. The previous record of six was set in 1996 by Matt Reedy. As a first-year, Devereux is already only two saves shy of the career record. Between breaking various pitching records, Devereux took a minute to sit down with the Phi and talk about his role on the team, his goals for his career and his life off the mound.

Maddy Graves

It did not take long for Maddy Graves, ‘19, to make a name for herself on the Washington and Lee women’s lacrosse team. Through her first ten games as a General, Graves leads the team in goals with 17 (the next highest goal scorer, Olivia Sisson, ‘17, has 12) and has netted exactly half of her shots. She has scored multiple goals in six of the team’s matches this season and is averaging three goals per contest in ODAC play. The Phi sat down with Graves to talk about her success on the field and her life off of it.

General of the Week: Kyle Ruedisili

Junior outfielder Kyle Ruedisli has been an instrumental piece in the Generals’ defense in the first half of the baseball season. Out of 103 potential errors this season, Ruedisili has committed only three. In the batters box, he has been equally effective- recording a double in each of the team’s past three games. The Phi sat down with Ruedisili to talk baseball, roadtrips and more.

General of the Week: Zach Bylykbashi

Wrestler Zach Bylykbashi, ‘19, has enjoyed a breakout season for the Generals, most recently breaking W&L’s single season wins record set by Ron Tassoni, ‘16, last season. Bylykbashi has recorded a season record of 30-6, and currently leads the team in takedowns with 83 and ranks in the top five in all of Division III in technical falls with eight. The Phi sat down with Bylykbashi to get his thoughts on his strong freshman campaign.

General of the Week: Elisabeth Holmes

Elisabeth Holmes, ‘17, was crucial in the swim team’s defeat over rival VMI 148 to 69 on Jan. 30. She set the Cy Twombly Pool record in the 200 frees and was a member of the pool-record setting 200 freestyle relay as well as winning the 100 free. She sat down with the Phi this week to talk about her record- setting meet, her growth since freshman year and her life outside of the pool.
